Sammie is a sophomore at Coquille High School. She takes advanced classes, holds a leadership position in the Student Body, plays saxophone in the band, is a Varsity Cheerleader and a high jumper on the track team, participates in Key Club, all while making honor roll. She is an avid member of 4H, breeding rabbits, and participating in over 20 projects every year!

In her free time, she loves to be on the stage. She has been in past productions at Liberty Theatre including 80's Rewind, The Addam's Family, Little Ole Opry on the Bay, and is currently casted in Shrek the Musical, which will be performed at the Liberty Theatre in May.

On top of all that, she is also Miss Coos County's Outstanding Teen 2017 where she was awarded Miss Congeniality at both the Miss Coos County competition and at state level competing for Miss Oregon Outstanding Teen. You have probably seen her in a parade or an event because she appeared at over 60 in the last year!

Sammie plans on using the scholarship money she earns from the Miss Coos County Scholarship to be able to attend a university after graduation, debt free. Just don't ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, the list is varied. Cosmetologist, Lawyer, Psychologist, Actress, Teacher, Chef, Author....and the list goes on and on. "I want to live a grand adventure", she says.

She chose to sing the song "Wide Open Spaces" because it holds special meaning for her now more than ever. Her best friend AND arch nemesis, Tianna (her older sister), will be leaving to Texas A&M in August and the two will be apart for the first time. This song reminds her that her sister is leaving....and that she gets the bedroom all to herself!
